V0515.1740MALLET.M Classic freeblown English blackglass (dark olive green) mallet c1740. Deep kickup with sand pontil. Sagged base. Straight marvered sides. Round shoulders into long tapering neck through applied down-tooled stringrim below everted fire-smoothed lip. Base has interesting inscription written in white: 'SITE OF THE THREE CUPS INN, BROOK, CHATHAM, 1981" Good In genuine 'as excavated' condition with several patches of iridescence, surface scratches, scuffs, rubs etc and a hard to spot pretty insignificant tiny (1-2mm) fleabite flake on the very top edge of the lip (barely visible and hardly worth mantioning) and is otherwise very good with no real damage. 7 1/4"high, 5"diameter. £295
